Forward Deployed Engineer (m/w/d)

Remote, Berlin, Germany, Hamburg, Germany
Full-time
Permanent employee
100,000 - 140,000 € per year

Your mission

As our first Forward Deployed Engineer for Primefold RI, you are the technical bridge between our product and our customers’ real-world problems. You work with customers from early on, find the problems that matter and solve them with code: you turn them into use cases, build the solutions, get them into production and make sure they deliver real value. Getting customers live, from integrations to data onboarding, is part of this, but it is a means to an end and not the goal. You work closely with Engineering, Product, Customer Experience and our Solutions Engineer.

  • Customer problems and use cases: Work with asset management and IT teams to find the problems worth solving, and take them from idea to production
  • Custom solutions: Scope and build customer-specific workflows, imports and tools where the standard product is not enough, and decide together with Engineering what becomes part of the product
  • Integrations and connectors: Build and configure integrations with customer systems such as SharePoint, Google Drive, Gmail, Outlook and on-premise storage, with secure authentication, reliable data flow and error recovery
  • Deployment and data onboarding: Get solutions live and keep them working, from workspace setup and access to data onboarding where needed, including checking extraction results against the source documents. Turn repeated steps into tools and checklists, so setup gets faster and needs less of your time
  • AI workflow design: Design, build and improve AI-powered workflows for each customer’s context, and evaluate output quality, accuracy and where human review is needed
  • Technical problem solving: Diagnose pipeline failures, data quality problems and integration breakages, and drive the fix across teams
  • Product contributions: Contribute directly to the product with fixes, features and reusable tools, and bring clear, evidence-backed customer feedback to Product and Engineering. Turn each solution into tools, checklists and playbooks, so the next one is faster
  • Technical support for sales: Where needed, support late-stage deals with technical answers on integrations, security and feasibility, together with the Solutions Engineer
  • Compliance input: Provide the technical answers for enterprise requirements such as GDPR and DPA processes, security questionnaires and data residency setups

Your profile

You are an engineer who enjoys working with customers. You can debug a pipeline in the morning, explain an integration setup to a customer’s IT team at lunch and ship a fix in the afternoon. You stay calm when something breaks, you are honest about what the product can and cannot do, and you do not wait for a perfect ticket to start. You combine technical depth with good judgement, and you know when to configure, when to build and when to bring in the wider Engineering team.

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with solid full-stack skills (for example TypeScript, Python, React, Node.js and PostgreSQL)
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as forward deployed engineering, implementation or integration engineering, solutions engineering or technical consulting
  • Hands-on experience building integrations with enterprise systems and APIs (OAuth2, REST), including authentication, data mapping and troubleshooting
  • You have taken at least one customer solution or implementation from scoping to production
  • Strong communication skills in both German and English, written and spoken
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage several customer projects at once and keep scope, priorities and next steps clear
  • Based in Germany (Berlin preferred) and happy to travel to customer sites from time to time

Experience with AI and LLM-based products, such as document extraction, RAG or agent workflows, and a practical sense of how to check AI output against source documents, is a big plus. So is experience with document processing pipelines (OCR, classification, extraction), Microsoft 365, SharePoint and enterprise access controls, enterprise SaaS customers and their security and compliance requirements, or building repeatable processes in a start-up. If you use AI coding tools in your daily work, you will fit right in. Knowledge of real estate or PropTech workflows is a plus, not a must. We will teach you the domain.

Why us?

At Primefold, we build AI-native platforms that turn fragmented data into decisions teams can act on. Real Estate Intelligence (RI) is made for real estate investment and asset management teams. We work in complex environments where decisions depend on large amounts of unstructured information and disconnected systems.

This is a founding role in a small team. Priorities will change, customer environments will be messy, and you will make practical decisions with incomplete information. In return, you get ownership, trust and a strong voice in how we shape the product, the customer experience and the growth of the company. You can work remotely within Germany, with a competitive salary based on your experience. We work with a humanistic approach: collaborative, egoless, transparent and responsive.

About us

Berlin-based startup Primefold is building an architectural intelligence layer that is agentic, modular, and domain-aware. It ingests heterogeneous data, learns the context of a business, and continuously provides decision-ready guidance across products and teams. We are looking for engineers who can contribute to this core platform.
